Tóxico is an independent cultural project based in Mexico City: a creative think-tank. We organize exclusive workshops and open lectures, led by world-renowned artists, filmmakers, photographers, designers, writers et al. We do film screenings, exhibitions and collective art projects; we also have a residency program, a mentorship system, a film grant… plus create our own content and projects, such as feature-length documentaries, socially-aware design labs, editorial projects, plus a few new projects on their way.
We have worked with many well-known people and organizations at the fore-front of contemporary culture, world-wide. Through different projects and across diverse disciplines, the Tóxico Team has earned various international awards and grants, including a TED Fellowship in 2009 and a TED Senior Fellowship for 2010-2013.
But Tóxico is not just about realizing a handful of activities, but about providing a mind-frame, building a space in which to once again experiment and question and create.
Why?
Because creativity is not a luxury. It is indispensable. The way we imagine the world is the basis and blueprint for the world we live in: everything out there always has its start somewhere inside the mind.
