The informal storytellers of a small village in El Salvador gather around this film’s images, weaving past and present, remembering the devastating effects that the civil war had upon their lives, and how this tiniest of places was, for a while, Â annihilated from the face of the earth until they came back to sweep chipped human bones from the ground, build houses, start all over again.
Mesmerizing voices, beautiful images, brutal memories, wonderful structure, amazing sound design. So darn intoxicating to see how many powerful documentaries arc coming from contemporary Mexican cinema nowadays.
Directed by Tatiana Huezo, whose grandmother comes from this village.
